Despite the benefits associated with health care information system and electronic health records, there are still several challenges encountered. Some of such challenges include interoperability, where different software is required to exchange data with each other. This has been a point of improvement for many years to enhance the effectiveness of the healthcare information system (Farzandipur, Jeddi, & Azimi, 2016). Purchasing the software among other facilities required to implement the system is also expensive limiting its extent of use. The other challenge facing healthcare information systems is the availability and integrity of the operations data.
