as stated in NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board, the organization I chose to look at for my area of nursing is the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Noted on the website is a section for quality, emergency nursing facts for 2021 and area for government relations. I chose to click on the quality and safety box, from there you can find resources on COVID-19 and preventing injury and saving lives. according to NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board, this website utilizes the most up to date information for emergency nurses. I have access to policies in the US. It also allows us to voice our own opinions. To relate it to this weeks reading on EBP, collaboration and utilizing outcomes to perform practices, I would say that EBP plays a huge role in what we do as providers, even at the RN level. Having access to resources like this will allow us to ensure we are providing the best quality of care to our patients in the future as APRNs. Collaboration is what we as providers will need to do with our counterparts, “two or more individuals make a commitment to each other to interact authentically and constructively to solve problems and learn from each other to accomplish goals, purposes or outcomes” (Tracy & O’Grady, 2019). This exemplifies the NONPF competency of quality.

Members of ENA organization have been able to gain experience and acquire knowledge that is critical in the general nursing practice (Drake et al., 2020). Through this organization, there is strong collaboration that between different professionals allowing them to understand new practices in the healthcare system, and in particular, research and evidence-based practices. Professional development is necessary in the nursing profession, and through nursing organization nurses and other healthcare professionals are able to achieve their objectives and transform healthcare delivery processes (Tracy et al., 2019).

National Alliance on Mental Illness is an organization that works tirelessly to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy, support groups for people in our community who are impacted by mental health and substance use conditions. It is a national organization geared towards building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness ( nami,2021). The nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization is dedicated to building better lives for the millions of people affected by mental health conditions.
according to NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board, NAMI is lobbying the Biden administration to avail funding dedicated to scientific research, to help understand diseases that affect the brain and also avail funds for early intervention given that in Massachusetts, about 6600 youths 12-17 have experienced depression, 1 in 4 adults with mental illness have been arrested resulting in 2 million jail bookings for these individuals. The NONPF that this supports is policy competencies by advocating for ethical, legal, and social factors that promote access, equity, quality, and practice with contributions to health policy development.
After reviewing this week’s content, my personal development and self-care that would be useful in about the demands of the APRN profession is the use of search engines such as PubMed Health, MEDLINE, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines program, and the National Institute for Health Research in pursuit of up to date peer-reviewed literature as indicated in NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board. The Healthcare field often changes, so I need to have the most recent evidence-based information to patients to provide the best quality care to patients. The other thing is collaboration which is crucial in the delivery of care in complex healthcare systems. according to NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board, treating people impacted by mental illness encompasses numerous professions needing teamwork collaboration being in the best interest of persons saved. Psych nursing stretches to the legal or court system because many mentally ill persons end up in the legal systems due to offenses done. The main objective of this organization is to ensure efficiency in the management of mental illnesses in different communities (Tracy et al., 2019). Members of National Alliance on Mental Illness have been able to gain experiences and advanced knowledge in the provision of mental care to different patients. as stated in NSG 517 Week 6 Discussion Board, National Alliance on Mental Illness has helped in creating a world where all individuals affected by mental illnesses can experience wellness, recovery, and hope as well as the freedom from stigma (DeLuca et al., 2021). Through advocacy, NAMI has been able to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable alliance where all members or employees and volunteers feel valued irrespective of their gender, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation. NAMI has provided opportunity for various professionals who want enhance their skills in the management of mentally ill patients (Phillips, 2020). It is very important to have teamwork and collaboration when treating individuals with mental illness.
