The Institute of Medicine (IOM) report on the future of nursing characterizes a detailed evaluation of nursing workforce. The recommendations of this report are aimed at supporting the efforts to enhance health of US citizens through the nursing contribution to the health care delivery. As such, the ultimate goal of this report is enhance patient outcomes and health care for diverse population across the lifespan with nursing as the primary tool needed to realize the that goal.

Therefore, as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), the IOM reports from 2010 to 2016 can be used as a framework for transformations in the nursing profession and the health care delivery system (Altman et al., 2016). Specifically, the report can be used as the key driver of interprofessional collaboration and coordination, provision of quality and affordable care, ensure value-based payment of health care, and guiding of health care system.

Regarding the implementation of the report, the APN should take action to expand opportunities for nurses to lead and spread collaborative improvement endeavors. This can be realized by leading development of patient-centered care and innovative care models, and advocating for educational curricula that enhance collaborative and coordinated care efforts. The report can also be implemented in the clinical practice settings by adopting nursing care model redesign initiatives, developing nurse managed programs such as wound care and anticoagulation therapy, and leading quality improvement initiatives across departments (Kovner et al., 2018). APN can also implement the report by taking action to promote nurse residency program, eradicate scope of practice barriers, and ensure incentives to promote lifelong learning in nurses, which is essential in increasing the number of nurses with a baccalaureate degree in the organization.

Notes: Sandine Happi is widely experienced in many areas and has the nursing experience to guide me during and after my program. Conclusion

Nurses should network to enhance their knowledge, get mentorship, and acquire the necessary support to overcome educational challenges. Networking allows nurses to develop a robust support system as they explore the medical field and share knowledge (NurseJournalStaff, 2021; Catalano, 2019). Through guidance and mentorship from experienced healthcare professionals, nurses understand nursing issues better and execute them successfully when learning and during practice (Foolchand & Maritz, 2020). At the same time, Dr. Cook will be a highly valuable resource for my better understanding and clarifying questions related to instructions, nursing research, and health concepts.

I selected Dr. Williams because she is currently the Program Coordinator of the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Walden University. She has more than 20 years of experience practicing nursing and advanced practice nursing and over 10 years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Walden University, 2020). Dr. Williams is known for her sincere passion for teaching and mentoring. Thus, she will be an ideal mentor since I am in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program.

Hello everyone, my name is Chioma Onuoha. I am married with five kids. My focus in the MSN program is family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I have been a registered nurse for more than ten years. And during those years, I have worked both in hospital, nursing homes and in people’s homes.  I have been at the bedside providing holistic care to individuals and their families. Having worked in different capacity for that long, I believe that it’s about time that I advance my nursing career. 

In the current time period of DNA genome sequencing, and other perimeter of research efforts that focuses heavily on the mastery of the human anatomy at an infinitesimal level, it is my utmost belief that the future of health care lies within the beck and call of the health care providers that have clasped the dividends of exploration and transformation. It was based on this hypothesis, that I started searching for a graduate nursing school that will train me to be able to conduct an in-depth research to ascertain the overall patient outcomes when health care providers adjust and employ new research initiatives in the treatment of the patient.

I reached a verdict that Walden MSN program will prepare me for this mission because her outcomes and perspectives relates to my professional and academic goal of becoming a scholar-practitioner. Walden university’s diversity, multiculturalism within their profession, communities and society as well as their global outreach and accessibility to busy adults, especially working professionals who are determined to advance their learning, positions her as my number one choice. An MSN degree from Walden University, School of Nursing will avail me a spot in the nursing of the future. 

Healthcare systems around the globe are becoming increasingly overwhelmed especially in the wake of this covid-19 era. As such, it has become imperative that healthcare professionals are highly needed in order to meet the demand for quality healthcare delivery systems in the 21^st century. The covid-19 pandemic tested the quality of several healthcare emergency preparedness and disease surveillance systems around the world.

In addition to the lack of a potent vaccine, this situation succeeded in putting a strain on the existing lean healthcare workforce, particularly in the U.S., thereby creating a global crisis for quality of life, quality of healthcare delivery systems and well-being of communities and the human population overall. Hence the need to develop robust health policies that ensure sufficient healthcare funding, quality of health data collection, analysis, decision-making and by extension, the sustained wellbeing of humanity in the 21^st century and beyond.

It is my prerogative to be part of the team that will provide solution to this problem. This is in line with Walden’s school of nursing’s vision to be recognized as a preeminent 21st-century school of nursing in which the contributions of nursing, health, and related sciences will transform the provision of nursing services along the continuum of care and across the human life span to meet the needs of individuals and local and global communities 

On another note, I can confidently state that Walden University academic culture will tremendously advance my critical thinking, communication, leadership skills and professional values which remains an integral part of nursing practice. Nevertheless, considering that nursing care to the sick, needy and the vulnerable has always been my desire, it is my firm belief that Walden’s vision, mission, goals, and social change initiatives which relates hugely to my professional and academic goals will enable me to avail an evidence-based care and outcomes to both New Jersey and New York communities. It is my passion to become an active player in the future of nursing, a future that is hinged on evidence-based practice 

Networking is a vital part of learning. My name is F,,, I live in New Jersey with my husband and son. I have been a telemetry and medical surgical nurse for six years. I truly enjoy what I do and find nursing to be very rewarding. Nursing is field of endless learning and constantly evolving so it is imperative to find a school with the same goals. I would like to continue to education the patient’s I treat professionally but I would like to continue to expand to the community and decrease health disparities where I work and within the community. Nursing requires a strong education foundation as well as the most up to date nursing information and research both of which I can use in goal of educating patients.

Walden’s vision and mission statement include expanding critical thinking skilling by transforming nursing education to today’s issues with evidence based practice to promote positive change (Walden University, 2021). Walden’s social change initiative allows for my goal of expanding my practice to the community and will provided me with the tools necessary to succeed in promoting health within the community and to provide culturally competent care (Walden, 2021).

Much has been done at a national level to decrease health disparities but not at the local level so my goal is to implement change to local communities (Wasserman et al., 2019). The Walden MSN program outcomes relate to my professional and academic goals because I want to be the very best nurse, student and future practitioner possible. Achieving each outcome means that I can deliver high quality, competent care and effectively diagnosis, assess and treat my patients. As stated above nursing a life-long commitment to learning, long after graduation. The MSN program outcomes can help me to achieve my goal of decreasing healthcare disparities by evaluating diverse patient population needs and transforming care.

Week 1 | Part 1: My Academic and Professional Network

When joining college, nursing students are usually gray in many areas, and professional knowledge develops as they learn concepts in their respective fields and network with peers. For nurses to complete their programs successfully, academic and professional support is essential. This support is enhanced by collaborating inter-professionally. Interprofessional collaboration is vital in nursing since it provides nurses with platforms for social and professional interaction as they work in teams (Moss et al., 2016). It is a way to share knowledge and resources.

Networking opens a broader sphere of influence. According to Goolsby and Knestrick (2017), professional networking is an element that enables nurses to communicate with others with shared interests and expertise. It creates relationships that support new opportunities. Khanum et al. (2016) further mentioned that interdisciplinary networking provides nurses with contacts for personal development and establishing contacts that make them better patient care providers. This section of my plan describes the academic and professional resources that I believe will be instrumental in my nursing program.

In addition, Johnson will support my journey as a practicing NP based on her experience with numerous evaluation and treatment approaches. She can guide me in clinical consultation, medication management, and prescriptive practice.

Conclusion 

Networking entails creating, maintaining, and utilizing relationships that will foster career success. It is crucial for NP students to build academic and professional networks to support their academic success and future practice. The identified academic networks are Lakesha Williams (Academic coordinator) and Judi Kuric (Program director). On the other hand, Lindsey Pogemiller (ANP-BC) and Ashley Johnson (ANP-C) are the selected professional networks.
